Bob's 27: The Darts Doubles Practice Game
Bob's 27 is the best-known doubles practice routine in darts, devised by former world champion Bob Anderson. It turns doubles practice into a score you can track, with a real penalty for missing.
Rules
- Start with 27 points.
- Throw three darts at double 1, then double 2, and so on up to double 20, then the bullseye.
- Each hit adds the double's value: double 5 is +10, and two hits on it in one visit add 20.
- If all three darts miss the double, subtract its value instead.
- If your score reaches 0 or below, you're bust and the game is over.
Scores to aim for
The maximum is 1437: all three darts in every double, from double 1 to the bullseye. Finishing the round at all is the first goal, since the early doubles are worth very little and a few misses can bust you. After that, aim to beat your own best score.
| Target | Value of a hit |
|---|---|
| Double 1 | 2 |
| Double 10 | 20 |
| Double 20 | 40 |
| Bullseye | 50 |
