Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 12, 2026

The short version: we collect what it takes to score your games and run your tournaments. We don’t sell your personal information, we don’t run ads, and we don’t use advertising or cross-site trackers. You can download or delete your data at any time.

Who we are

The Darts App (thedarts.app, play.thedarts.app, and the iPhone and Android apps) is owned and operated by Joinue LLC, an Arizona limited liability company (“we,” “us”). We are responsible for the personal information described here. The app is built and run by the company’s founder, who is the person accountable for it.

Reach us at privacy@joinue.com, or by mail at Joinue LLC, PO Box 40441, Tucson, AZ 85717, United States.

This policy is part of our Terms of Use.

What we collect

  • Account. Your email address, and a password (stored only as a hash by our sign-in provider) or the basic details Google or Apple share when you sign in with them, such as your name and email address.
  • Profile. Your display name, handle, profile photo, and skill level. If you take a new photo for your profile, the app asks for camera access first and only uses the photo you choose.
  • Games and stats. The games you play and score: every throw, the players and teams in them, and the stats we work out from them.
  • Friends. Your friends, friend requests, and game invites.
  • Tournaments and venues. Tournaments you run or enter, and, if you run a venue, its name, address, boards, staff, and events. We record who made changes to a tournament (such as entering a result) so organizers can see what happened.
  • People you add. Names of players, teams, and walk-in guests you add. A guest can later claim their results into their own account.
  • Blocks and reports. Who you have blocked, and the reports you file (the reason and who or what you reported).
  • Payments. If you buy a venue plan or leave a tip, Stripe processes the payment and handles your card details directly. We never see or store your full card number. For venue plans we keep a Stripe customer ID, the plan’s status, and its renewal date.
  • Days you were active. The dates you open the app while signed in (the date only, not the time or what you did), so we can count active players in aggregate.
  • A device ID. A random ID the app creates on each install, used to tell which device is scoring a match. It isn’t your phone’s hardware or advertising ID, and it isn’t used to track you.
  • Technical data. Your IP address and basic browser and device details, which our hosting provider logs with each request and which we use to prevent abuse and rate-limit requests.
  • Crash and performance reports. When something breaks, a technical report of the error. Some sessions include a short replay of the screen with all text and inputs masked and images blocked. We configure these reports not to include your name, email address, cookies, or IP address.
  • What you send us. If you email us, we keep the email so we can answer it.

What we don't collect

We don’t collect your location, your contacts, your phone number, or your advertising ID. The app has no ad SDKs and no third-party analytics trackers. The caller voice is generated on your device, and the app doesn’t use your microphone.

Who can see what

  • Your display name, handle, profile photo, and skill level can be seen by other signed-in players, so they can find you and add you as a friend. Your email address is never shown to other players.
  • Your friends can see the games you've played and your stats.
  • The people in a game or tournament with you see your name and results in it.
  • A shared tournament link or TV view shows player names, the bracket, results, and the venue to anyone who has the link. A listed venue page can be seen by anyone. Organizers can unlist a venue or tournament.
  • Profile photos are stored as images that anyone with the image's web address can open.

How we use it

  • To run the app: save your games, show your stats, run tournaments and venues, and connect you with friends
  • To send emails about your account, such as sign-in links, password resets, and the confirmation when you delete your account, and to tell a venue's staff if the venue closes
  • To review reports, enforce our Terms, and keep the app safe from abuse
  • To fix bugs and keep the app fast
  • To count players and games in aggregate, so we know how the app is used
  • To bill venue plans and answer billing questions
  • To meet our legal obligations

What we never do

  • Sell your personal information, or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising
  • Show ads, or let advertisers or data brokers have your data
  • Track you across other websites or apps
  • Use your data or photos to train AI models

Service providers

A small set of providers run parts of the app for us. They process your data only to provide their service to us, not for their own purposes.

  • Supabase (hosted on Amazon Web Services): your account, sign-in, game data, and profile photos.
  • Vercel: hosts the website and API, and keeps standard request logs such as IP address and browser type.
  • Stripe: payments for venue plans and tips.
  • Sentry: crash and performance reports, as described above.
  • Resend: sends the app’s emails.
  • Upstash: rate limiting to prevent abuse, which briefly keeps your IP address.
  • Google and Apple: sign-in, only if you choose to sign in with them, and app distribution if you use the iPhone or Android app.

When else we share information

  • When the law requires it, such as in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or search warrant. Where we're allowed to, and it wouldn't defeat the purpose, we try to tell you first.
  • When we believe in good faith it is needed to prevent death or serious physical harm.
  • To report apparent child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as US law requires.
  • To investigate a report, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us, including in a legal claim.
  • If Joinue LLC or The Darts App is sold, merged, or reorganized. The new owner would be bound by this policy as it stands at the time, and we would let you know.

Cookies and local storage

On the website, we use a sign-in cookie to keep you signed in, and a small cookie that only tells thedarts.app that you are signed in so it can send you straight to the app. The iPhone and Android apps keep your sign-in on your device instead.

The app also keeps some data in your browser or device storage: your display name and skill level, the device ID described above, recent games so they load instantly, and settings such as the caller voice and display preferences. Clearing your browser data removes it and signs you out.

We don’t use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or fingerprinting.

Your choices and rights

Download your data. Sign in and use “Download my data” on the Account page to get a file of everything we hold about you: your account and profile, players, teams, every game you played, tournaments you ran or entered, friends, invites, venues and staff roles, results you claimed, players you blocked, reports you filed, and any moderation notices on your account.

Correct it. Change your name, handle, photo, and skill level on the Account page, or ask us to fix anything else.

Delete it. Sign in and delete your account from the Account page, or follow the steps at thedarts.app/delete-account. What happens is described under “How long we keep it” below.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We give everyone the first four whatever the law where they live, and there is nothing to opt out of because we don’t sell your information or use it for advertising. Browser signals such as Global Privacy Control are honored for the same reason.

For anything you can’t do in the app, email privacy@joinue.com from the address on your account. We answer within 45 days, and we’ll tell you if we need longer. We may ask you to confirm the request comes from you. Someone you authorize in writing can make a request for you. If we turn a request down, we’ll tell you why, and you can appeal by replying with the word “Appeal”. We won’t treat you differently for using any of these rights.

How long we keep it

  • While you have an account. We keep your data until you delete it or your account.
  • When you delete your account. We permanently remove your profile, profile photo, players, teams, friends, blocks, active-day records, and every game and tournament no other account took part in (including games you scored for people without an account), and any venue plan you own is canceled. Before an owned venue is removed, its staff are emailed that it has closed.
  • What stays for other people. Games you scored with other accounts, and tournaments they were in, stay in their history, with you shown as “Deleted player.” Games someone else scored keep the name they gave you, no longer linked to your account. A tournament you’re running that other accounts are in is canceled, and its results are kept for them. Reports you filed are kept so we can act on them, but no longer linked to you.
  • Moderation records. Records of moderation actions on an account (such as a suspension) are kept for two years after it is deleted, then deleted. If an account was banned, a one-way code made from its email address (not the address itself) is kept for two years so it can’t simply sign up again.
  • Payment records. Stripe keeps records of past payments for as long as the law requires, and we keep the billing records we need for tax and accounting.
  • Logs, backups, and reports. Request logs, crash reports, email delivery logs, and routine database backups are kept by our providers for a limited time, then deleted on their own schedules.
  • Legal holds. Information tied to an active report, investigation, or legal obligation is kept as long as that requires.

How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your data is enforced by rules in the database itself, not only in app code. Sign-in and account actions are rate-limited. Our admin tools, which can see account email addresses and sign-in dates to provide support and handle reports, need two-factor sign-in, and every admin action is logged.

No service can promise perfect security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you without undue delay, explain what was affected and what we’re doing about it, and notify authorities as the law requires.

Where your data is stored

The Darts App is operated from the United States, and your data is stored and processed in the United States. If you use the app from another country, your data is transferred to and handled in the United States.

Children

The Darts App is not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. Players aged 13 to 17 need a parent or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email privacy@joinue.com and we will delete it.

An organizer can add a young player to a game or tournament by name without the player having an account. If you are a parent and want a child’s name removed, email us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. For a significant change, we will tell signed-in users in the app or by email before it takes effect.
