Cricket darts rules

Updated

Cricket is the tactical game: instead of counting down, you fight over seven numbers (more on the Tactics and Mickey Mouse boards below), closing them for yourself and scoring on the ones your opponent hasn't closed yet. It's the most played game after 501, and it plays very differently.

In this guide

The numbers

Only 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and the bull count. Everything else on the board is a miss. Some players leave the bull out for a shorter game.

Marks and closing

Each dart earns marks on its number:

DartMarks
Single1
Double2
Treble3
Outer bull1
Bullseye2

Three marks close a number for you. A number everyone has closed is dead: no one scores on it any more.

Scoring points

Marks beyond the three you need to close a number score points, as long as at least one opponent hasn't closed it. Each extra mark is worth the number itself (25 on the bull).

Example: you've closed 20 and your opponent hasn't. A treble 20 is three extra marks, so you score 60.

How to win

You win when you've closed every number on the board and have at least as many points as every opponent. Closing everything while behind on points isn't enough: keep scoring until you're level or ahead.

Cutthroat Cricket

Cutthroat flips the scoring. Your extra marks add points to each opponent who hasn't closed that number, and the lowest score wins. You win by closing every number while having no more points than anyone else.

It suits three or more players, where piling points on the leader keeps everyone in it.

No Score Cricket

No points at all: extra marks on a closed number do nothing, and the first to close every number wins. It's quicker, and a good way to learn the board before playing for points. Your MPR counts only the marks that close numbers.

Tactics, Mickey Mouse and Random

Other boards, picked under Board on the Cricket setup screen. Marks, closing and scoring work exactly as above.

  • Tactics adds 14, 13, 12, 11 and 10: eleven numbers from 20 down, plus the bull if you include it.
  • Mickey Mouse is 20 down to 12, then a Doubles bed, a Trebles bed and the bull. A double or treble marks its own number first; when that number is off the board or no use to you (closed, with nothing left to score), it marks the Doubles or Trebles bed once instead, scoring the dart's points there.
  • Random deals six different numbers from 1 to 20 at the start of every leg, plus the bull if you include it. Nobody gets to play their favorite numbers.

Tactics games get their own tab in your Cricket performances, and stay out of the standard board's records and MPR trend. Mickey Mouse and Random are party games, so they keep the result only.

Marks per round (MPR)

MPR is Cricket's average: the marks you score per round of three darts. An MPR of 3 means a treble's worth of marks every visit. The Darts App tracks it for every Cricket leg you play against other people; solo legs stay out of your stats, and so do legs against a bot unless you choose to count them in Settings.

Questions

Which numbers are used in Cricket darts?

15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and the bull. Everything else counts as a miss.

How many marks does the bullseye count for?

Two. The outer bull counts for one, so you need three marks on the bull to close it, like any other number.

How do you win at cutthroat Cricket?

Close every number while having no more points than anyone else. Your extra marks add points to opponents who haven't closed that number.

Score your next Cricket leg

Tracks marks, closed numbers and points, plus your MPR over time.
