Shanghai Darts Rules: How to Play and Win with a Shanghai

Shanghai is a points game with a twist: one perfect visit wins it on the spot, however far behind you are. It's quick to learn and good for groups.

Rules

  • Each round has one target: the round number. Round 1 is the 1, round 7 is the 7.
  • Every player throws three darts at that round's number.
  • Only that number scores, times its ring: a treble 7 is 21. Darts anywhere else score nothing.
  • The short game is rounds 1 to 9; the long game is rounds 1 to 20.

The Shanghai

Hit the single, double and treble of the round's number in one visit and you win immediately. That's a Shanghai. If nobody gets one, the highest total after the last round wins, and level totals are a tie.
