How to play Count Up

Updated

Count Up is the simplest darts game there is: throw, add it up, and the biggest total wins. With no busts and no finishing rules, it's the easiest way into darts and a straight test of scoring. Play it alone to beat your best, against friends, or against a bot.

Rules

  • Choose 5, 8 or 10 rounds. Each round, every player throws three darts.
  • Every dart scores what it hits, times its ring: a treble 20 is 60, the outer bull 25, the bull 50. A miss scores nothing.
  • There's no bust and no target. The best possible round is 180.
  • After the last round, the highest total wins.

Ties

If two or more players finish level on the top score, it's a tie. You can settle it with a tiebreaker round: only the tied players throw, three darts each, and the highest round wins. If they're level again, the ones still tied throw another round.

In a casual game you choose whether to play the tiebreaker or leave it as a tie. In a tournament the tiebreaker starts by itself, because the bracket needs a winner. Your best totals only count the game's own rounds, not tiebreakers.
