Halve-It darts rules

Updated

Halve-It is a pub favorite that punishes a bad visit more than any other game: miss the target with all three darts and your score is cut in half. It suits two to eight players and rewards steady hitting over the odd big score.

Rules

  • Every round has one target, and every player throws three darts at it.
  • Darts on the target add their score, times the ring: a treble 17 is 51. Darts anywhere else score nothing.
  • A visit with no dart on the target halves your score, rounded down.
  • The highest score after the last round wins. Level scores are a tie.

Targets

The app plays nine rounds from a start of 40, so the first miss already costs something:

RoundTarget
1, 215, 16
3Any double
4, 517, 18
6Any treble
7, 819, 20
9Bull (25 or 50)

Pubs vary the targets and the start. Some let the first visit set your score instead; the fixed start of 40 follows DartCounter's version.

Bermuda Triangle

Bermuda Triangle is the longer party version: 13 rounds from 0, on 12, 13 and 14, any double, 15, 16 and 17, any treble, 18, 19 and 20, then the bulls. In round 12 the outer bull and the bullseye both score 25; round 13 is the bullseye alone, worth 50. A blank visit halves your score, as in Halve-It. The target order follows the version published by Darthelp.

Choose it on the Halve-It setup screen. It's a party game, so it keeps the result only.
